Does anyone know how I can allocate more memory to Minecraft
Ok, so I am stuck with Minecraft only using a certain amount of memory. Pretty much only 499MBs is allocated for Memory to Minecraft

Now, here is the thing, currently I have 8GB of Ram installed into my computer, have nVidia GeForce Graffics with 2GB, and then an Intel Core i5 Processor. And as I try to change the Java Settings around, as seen by others doing it, it keeps coming up with this:

Can someone tell me what to do? Because every video, or link I have clicked on, have not been helpful at all.

How do all of you assume you have the exact same problem without any debug information?! Also, the JDK is for DEVELOPING APPLICATIONS AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH EXTRA RAM.
OP, Can you show the dev console when this happens? It will give a reason as of why this is happening. And, allocating more RAM will do absolutely nothing but cause more problems. (If any.)

Yeah, I got a 64-bit computer, and 32-bit Java. I will install 64 bit if it helps. Thanks all, I will let everyone know how it all goes.

I had this problem, or at least, I had trouble allocating memory to Minecraft. I solved it by downloading and installing the JDK (Java Development Kit) versus the usually-downloaded JRE (Java Runtime Environment). Simply download and install the JDK, and you should be able to allocate more RAM! Just don't allocate more than 2GB, as honestly Minecraft will never use more than 1GB, or possibly 1.5GB if you mod it a lot.
Hope I helped!

you need to download the 64 bit version of java which can be found here
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/ ... 80261.html. This is assuming you have a 64 bit machine. I would recommend downloading the .exe if you are on windows. Hope this helps

Install 64-bit Java. When I was getting this error, installing both 32 and 64-bit Java fixed the problem for me.

Use vanilla on the technic launcher. You can allocate ram with that
Otherwise theirs some sort of code you have to type and make it a run.dat or something
