Resource Packs in 1.16.1

Has anyone experienced having to restart the game for new resource packs to show up?
It used to be that you just had to reopen the resource packs tab and they would show up, it is quite inconvenient.
If so does anyone know a fix?

Sounds like it may be https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-188473 that you're describing. This was fixed in 20w27a :)

Had the same issue, while in-game you can do F3+T to reload textures and this will also detect new resource packs.
EDIT: This might have to do with clicking the "Resource packs" button, while the resource pack in question is empty. If yours was empty too, maybe putting something in it before clicking the button would have made it work first try. idk

Huh, thats weird that isn't happening for me. I could imagine how that would be annoying though. I'll see if I can find a fix.

Yea, it was fine pre 1.16+
