I am using a linksys router and i cant figure out how to port forward.
am i doing something wrong here?

Try to change protocol from both to TCP. Also press "windows" = r enter cmd and enter ipconfig in the console. then check that every ip is correct

Change the protocol to TCP. You may have to allow a port through windows firewall to do this. In your search bar type in Windows firewall click on Windows Firewall. The icon should be a brick wall with an earth on it. A window should appear look for advanced settings. Once again another window will open. Click on inbound rules then click on new rule. click on port. type in 25565. click on allow connection. click next make sure everything is checked. name your rule anything you want (eg. minecraft.) Add another rule and do the same process except click on udp. Next go to outbound rules click on new rule, port tcp, and type in 25565. click next Click on allow this connection. click next and make sure all the check boxes are checked. Name your new rule anything you want.
Alternatively, you can use a free program called ngrok which is easy to setup. Ngrok will bypass any firewall and port forwarding with ngrok doesn't require you to do much work.

Yea, i hid it from the image for privacy reasons.

use that to double-check as some routers/modems don't allow LAN connections from the external IP, also no one can do a thing to your internal IP
also make sure your firewall allows that port through

Your internal ip, something like 192.168.0.83 is your local ip. This means it will connect to the specific device that this ip inside the public ip (which is something like 123.456.532.10 [just made this up])

Do you have a server running, when you test if the port is active?. It does look correct
