Hello all,

So recently, I went to set up a forge 1.7.10 server using TheBreakDown's tutorial. I did everything he listed in the tutorial. But, when I try to join, I can only do so with my ipv4 address. I can't join with my public ip (it says "java.net.ConnectionException Connection timed out: no further information:" when i try to join with that, which means a friend who I am trying to play with can't come on. So, is this a problem with port forwarding or is this a problem with something else? thanks

Hi Dude,

I have only recently started playing minecraft again but use to host a load of servers back then!

The main software I use to use, dunno if its still a thing, was hamachi? Set up a hamachi ip on your computer - generate a user and password... get your friend to download it and enter in the 'join network' details ( which is the pass and username you set up).

Then obvs input the hamachi ip it generates into your server.properties file rather than your ipv4 ip.

Hope this makes sense? if not let me know through private message.

Best of luck!

I had this same problem with the same version, even the same tutorial xD

I restarted my computer and then the server wouldn't even boot up after that.
