What does it mean when you cannot post a comment below a submission?

Hello there, so I recently tried commenting under a users submission and it said "You do not have permission to post here". I do not know what this means, as in like have they blocked me? are comments disabled? Because other comments are there. I am just a bit confused. I have never interacted with this user before so if they did block me I find it quite confusing.

You can't post comments on inactive users' submissions.

why can't you post comments on inactive users submissions? you can do that everywhere else but not on PMC?

There are many places where you can't, not just PMC.

I think it's because comments on a thread should talk to the person who made the thread, and if he is inactive the he'll probably not see it.

perhaps I figured it out, I tried too (didn't work) but also that member has been offline for quite a bit (two months) so perhaps it's one of those things like "comments have been closed due to member/submission inactivity", or the comments were put there and then the member decided to turn off comments

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if what you've guessed is actually the case.
Started my account here on Planet Minecraft today for Datapacks to let some know whether it works or not, it let me comment on some Datapacks I was interested in but not all.

That sounds like a block to me. I've experienced blocking lately. Try going to their profile to check.

sure, i was trying to let him know his skin is missing the back of the arms but the comment wont go through on any of his submissions.
