It's not worth making big datapacks anymore.

Hey guys. Pretty much the title. I've been making "mod-sized" datapacks for a few years now, and I'm running into an issue.
It's not worth it to make giant, extensive datapacks that add a ton of custom content anymore, because the game updates too fast and the technical changes are too sweeping. It used to be that if we got huge sweeping technical changes, it would happen once a year, and you'd have an entire year to update your datapacks and make new content. But now updates come out every few months.
Some of us have lives, and that usually means, if we make huge datapacks like this, that by the time the datapack is done being updated for the new version, other new version is about to come out in a couple weeks.
It sucks. It sucks a lot. Because it's killed my motivation to make giant datapacks that rival mods in functionality. It completely killed my motivation to engage with one of my favorite aspects of the game. And it especially hurts because this change that is hurting datapackers and modders, is a direct result of the same exact crowd of people who cry and moan about how we are better at making content for the game than Mojang is. The same people who, ironically, couldn't even tell you who the creators are of the mods they have downloaded.
As someone who makes custom content, I genuinely hate the Minecraft community. They complained about updates that enabled that custom content to be made in the first place, and then bullied Mojang into making the game impossible to develop and maintain custom content for in a timely manner, while holding the custom content creators (who they are screwing over) on a pedestal. They over-appreciate custom content(no, what we make is almost never as good as what mojang could make) while actively showing a lack of care and understanding for what makes that content possible. And as a result, there will likely be a lot less of that custom content going forward.

Anyway, yeah. That's my rant. Thanks for reading. Bye, now.

Interesting to see feedback indicating it isn't just my perception that the too rapid (and often meaningless) changes are inhibiting the development of third party content.

Even a simpletexture pack can now require one [or more 🤬] overlays to work across commonly played versions — 2x or 3x the work for no added return…
…as well as the likelyhood of having to set up another every few months.

Someone inclined toward 'conspiracy theories' might begin to wonder if that was not a planned feature of the current 'update' schedule… 🤔
