Blue spiders

Recently I have been shown several images of blue spiders which are apparently venomous and will be released in 1.8. There is even an article on the minecraft wiki about them. But surely these could just be retextured spiders? Has anyone got any proof from notch or jeb that these a real?

They seem quite good as aggressive mobs, just as long as the venom isnt 2 strong and they dont spawn in groups or as blue spider jockeys. (maybe with pigmen or endermen riding them?)

they are poisonous spiders. they are just retextured spiders, with venom, they are also smaller.

If there really introducing poison i hope they make an antidote as well.

All i no is that they will spawn in the new type of dugeon things also in them there will be venemous spider spawners , there blue, they will not replace the normal spider, they can climb like spider man, there poison hurts around a half a heart per 5 secs and there blue oh wait i already sed that 1

The blue spider spawns in dungeons and mineshafts. The normal brown spider will remain the same.

I think it would be two kinds of spider in 1,8. THe old, brown 1, and a new blue 1. The blue one will be found in the new fortresses. That will be added in 1,8. (or perhaps later, i dunno). BUt this blue spider will indeed, be venomous, and you will loose health over time.

I have no idea if it is going to be a new type of spiders but it would surely be stupid to reskinn the old spiders, I really think they look good enough as they are. Venomous spiders would be a really good idea though. Imagine that they dropped poisen and that you could use that on arrows to get venomous arrows.
