1.7 Completely and utterly useless?

For me 1.7 didn't do anything that changed my playing style. I don't care about fishing, stained glass, compatible sound packs, or anything else for that matter. The thing is that it is completely opposite for other people. 1.7 is important because if it didn't come out more people would be begging and complaining which gets people mad sometimes. It also creates more money for Mojang. Think about kids that tell other kids at school new things that just came out in this wonderful game that millions are playing. If you were the kid being talked to you would most likely want to experience it for yourself too. I just don't see anything changing in little increments because I see things changing 3 steps at a time. I know other people love it so I won't say something too negative because haters gonna hate.

Yes, the command blocks have been upped and they are so much better for map makers and builders now. It doesn't apply to me at all though even as a builder.

Not only that. Besides rose bushes being added, they added at least 3 other flowers, double-tall grass, double-tall ferns.. etc. I would trade a rose for those any day

Alright, first off, STOP with these threads. All they do is spam and no one really wants you see your rant about an update. My gosh, your not FORCED to update, just keep 1.6! Also, 1.7 did a LOT of new things than that. It added 2 new types of trees and wood, and more than doubled the amount of biomes in the game. Also, they also did some major re-writes in the code of how Multiplayer, World generation, and more work. You can know also combine resource packs, which I think is pretty useless, but it's still kinda fun to mess with. Also they organized the settings more. This update was mainly for rewrites and setting changes, but they added a lot more blocks and stuff to keep people happy. I see what your saying here, but people are posting these threads everywhere. I'm not as impresses with 1.7 as I thought, but still, there is no need for half the people playing MC to make threads ranting about a new update. This is also a huge improvement for professional builders/mapmakers. More blocks always make them happy, and new types of grass, glass, sand, and wood help them a ton.

I'm going to agree with OP here. I dislike and don't need the new features. BUT, I have to update because the server I play on updates as well.. :/ -cries-

If you love Mindcrack (S3 for this matter) you might know VintageBeef's place isn't that good anymore because of the way you see through ice now and since Dinnerbone is whitelisted on the server he went to VB's place and said sorry through a sign.

1.7 is good... The only problem with 1.7 that I have is that they removed roses!

Notch needs to tell their mothers that they hate roses. 1.7 replaced roses with poppies, and added rose bushes, which make infinitely more sense.

For map makers, this is a massive update. Also the rendering improvements are noticable; I can play without optifine fairly well on short (4 chunks) render distance for the first time ever! This is the best update since 1.4 in my opinion.

The biggest step is network protocol, rendering improvements and plugin API support. These affect everybody, even if you don't realize it. Little features like fishing and stained glass are minor compared to the bigger picture.

I am not saying its garbage but I don't necessarily need any of it but sure it is great.

I can never find horses in MP but when I do I ride a Stallion. XD well I never find horses ever and when I do someone comes over and kills them. Also for me I have no point in keeping something from despawning because I don't have something of such importance. AMPLIFIED is cool and it works fine on my computer but still I could live without it.

The flowers and generations are great so far, and the fishing is pretty helpful if you need Saddles/Nametags

World generation changed as well. With fishing, you can now get rare items like saddles and name tags!
