If we're counting the total amount I've seen, then probably over a 500.000 at least. Mainly because of two things:
1. I've played the game since 2010
2. I used to (And still do) make something I call "Mob Bombs" where you take one block, place it up really high, a spawn egg with creepers, and then you spam click the block until you have a few 100 creepers on it. Then light one of the creepers and watch the massacre as the ball of creepers explodes into all the creepers :D

Having played Minecraft for 8 years now (since Beta 1.5), easily more than 100,000 or possibly even a million.

Idk, at least in the hundreds, if not thousands. U gat that really high if u don't light up your mineshafts and just use dynamic lighting XD

I've seen so many in the 3 years I've played the game and I once saw like four or five in one cluster in a single area which was scary.

Not too sure but I'm fairly certain it's over 10 or so, I don't tend to play with mobs on so I have no idea how many but I know it's more than 10 at least.
