as the title says.
I can only handle 39, and even with that many mods, I still don't have good performance.
~PS: If you don't know how to use mods, here's a tutorial to get you started!~
I've always wanted to play the Crackpack Modpack, however that takes about...189 mods!
How many mods can your PC handle? and what mods do you want if your PC can handle 300 mods?

when you say "CPU" are you one of those people who use it to say "Computer" or the actual central processing unit lol
I've never used more than probably 5 mods at a time back when i played minecraft but I could probably handle over 300.

each of our personal pc's or pc's in general? anyway, I think mine gets laggy around 200+ unless I turn the settings down, but I almost always play in windowed mode so that might make it a bit less smooth.

Its pretty hard to test this, since most mods aren't compatible and not all mods are as huge as Mo' Creatures or The Aether.
But anyway, I can run large modpacks with 200+ mods, so theres my answer. Though I only really use about 10 mods for my world.

I normally only use things such as World Edit (Client Version) for building and things like that. Some times I will knock around with noppes npc's but that's about it.

well i had a personal pack near the beginning of this year that had a few more then 250 mods and my computer ran it quite well i was able to play easily and they werent just a bunch of small mods either a lot of them were "bigger" mods

There is no numerical limit as far as I know. It all depends on which mods. A mod that comes with lots of explosions and particle effects would take more out of your PC than a mod that adds 3 new blocks. but in most cases your FPS should not drop to unbearable levels.
there are certainly modpacks with hundreds of mods in them. Crackpack is an example of those. It can definitely be played by most normal pc's of this generation (I have an i3 with 8 GB ram (2GB allocated to modded MC) and Intel HD 44000 Graphics card, and can handle it pretty easily), though you may need to turn your video settings down a lot.
as for 300 mods, the bigger challenge will likely be to make them all work together. Many mods are not completely compatible, so it will be difficult to do so.
