Is 1.13 going to kill adventure maps

With all the changes to item id's, and to commands in 1.13 it hads meant 100% of every adventure map ever created is now broken. They will not work until the creator updates.

So my question to you is did this pretty much kill off adventure maps in 1.13 plus for now?

Adventure maps will have a lot more potential after 1.13 but it'll be annoying if you want to play a pre-1.13 map in 1.13 or higher. It's as simple as that.

You can use 1.12.2 or any other update for maps. You don't have to update the maps. If you're going to download a 1.12 or 1.8 map you need to put 1.12 or 1.8 on, you don't NEED to use the newest update.

You may not need to use the newest update, but 85 or 90 % of players do. Its a case of people want 1.13 maps more than pre 1.13.

yeha, but that just says that this poll is unneeded. 1.13, in fact, can't kill maps. In what way can they? As I said, other players can choose what they play in, therefore 1.13 won't kill maps.

I mean, they've already changed the syntax on us once. I went MIA on my map for a year and came back to nearly every command block broken because they added quotation marks to the syntax. But I fixed my map then. And I'll fix it again. You can expect that from any map currently in development.

For older maps, it's already a good idea to switch to the version it was made in... I know people just want to click Play without fussing with that stuff. But, you can be lazy and only play new maps, or you can use the handy-dandy version switcher that's right on the launcher. I doubt people are that unwilling to Google "how to play old Minecraft maps" and click a few buttons to change the version. This won't affect anything.

And this is no more a problem now than it was all the other times they changed command block syntax.

The only issue I can see is that this site doesn't list what version a map is. But it does list the upload date, so you can figure out what version a map was made in.

The only thing I see killing adventure maps is the community. Mojang has been making it easier to make maps and, when they added the voice line audio adjuster, they seem to encourage adventure maps. And this update will mess up maps from earlier versions; but, it's not like people tend to port maps to a newer that much anyway. If anything this update helps map makers, as Mojang is making the command system easier to use. Unfortunately, I've seen these encouragements for map makers wasted on "parkour" and "find the button" maps. Now, I don't have anything against those maps; but, they have dominated the attention of people. And because of how relatively simple it is to make these maps (if you don't count the aesthetics), they're a quick grab for popularity. As opposed to spending a lot more time writing, building, and coding an amazing adventure map with little notice in return.

P.S. Now this is merely my opinion, I don't want to stir up conflict.

True, but there's also some really amaing maps that have been made which couldn't have been made before, like The Heist.

Well it wont kill maps either way, people have adjusted to new ways of building maps before and we can do it again

Why would it? The switch to item names rather than numbers didn't cause any problems, you just have to use old versions to play on old maps. The experience is more authentic then anyways.

1.13 will kill almost every adventure map that exists now but to play them we can have 2 separate game launches of 1.12 and then 1.13+
some maps will be working for 1.13 and there will be loads of maps being made for it again, im working with a 1.13 snapshot to create an rpg adventure map ready for 1.13 when it comes out

people are just gunna have to make new ones just like every other version. like you need to make an adventure map different if its from 1.8 to 1.12. it changes almost every update, just this time you cant upgrade from 1.12 unless you dont have a certain command the whole time which is nearly impossible. adventure maps are not dead, they just need to make new ones for the update

I would say that's kind of happened already. On a smaller scale. With like about 10% of people not updating past combat update.

Almost everybody plays 1.8. The majority of players are pvpers. 50% of the people playing mc pvp, the other 50% is a mix, either map creators, builders, or people who just play minecraft for fun. So, therefore, it's not 'amost nobody plays 1.8" - while looking for servers 70% of them are either 1.8 or under. Many servers don't use the newer updates because the newer ones ruin pvp. - Now, I understand that this poll is about builders and/or maps. But SpyChicken123 has a point.

Almost all of those servers you talk about for the most part also allow 1.12 to connect as well. At least 90% of mc players only play latest release.

The nature of updates. There'd best be enough content and universal appeal for 1.13 for a true shift to be made, otherwise you'll have the nonsense of people being split across 2-3 different generations of minecraft and throwing compatibility/unity into chaos.
