Is Minecraft Dying?
With the release of 1.9 came a lot of hate, because of the attack cooldown system. The first 1.11 snapshot was released recently, and as Logdotzip says; "Minecraft is going to be a lot harder.". What's your opinion? Do you think Minecraft is dying?

It's been dying ever since beta was released.
1
No it hasn't.
1
Have you seen how popular minecraft is? I don't think it's been dying since beta.
1
I think they were getting at the fact that people have been asking "Is Minecraft dying" since then.
1
Personally I think this might bring in more players, Yes it will get rid of some players but it will get rid of more younger players or people who are only around for like being trolls. A few good players will leave but with every new update Old players who haven't played in a while come back to see the new features. Player counts for all servers always spike after a new version comes out

I really wish people would stop making posts like this everytime news or information on an update comes out. "Is Minecraft Dying?" is clickbait and generally a really dumb topic to discuss. It's the same routine everytime an update comes out. Get used to it. Stop filling recent activity with the same dumb posts.
Thank you for your time.

Short answer: No.

Minecraft has been dying. I personally haven't played for years and just started again for the purpose of being staff on a friends server. I know the game, but will all of the updates i feel like a noob.
The reason? The player base. When it was first released the player based ranged widely, but one can safely assume many were pre-college or pre career. After a couple years, the players started to have other responsibilities and couldn't play the game much anymore. They then realized how the player based has changed, Team Crafted began to take over, and now the game is more for people under the age of 15. Thats what happened to me and many of my friends at least.

If you don't like the updates stop playing the game
People need to stop posting clickbait threads like these :/

No. So many people still play the game.
I also will never get why people hate the Combat Update. So many people demanded a better combat system. They got exactly that, but then everyone demanded they want the old combat system back.
People can't make up their minds.

Exactly.

I agree too

New doesn't necessarily mean better. I don't really feel strongly either way and consider both Pre-1.9 and Post-1.9 combat to be mediocre at their best. People were asking for better combat, but cooldown times, another hunger rebalance, the inability to block, among other drastic changes.
Some people are excessively angry or afraid of any sort of change, but I don't think it's fair to generalize all people who wanted better combat but disliked 1.9's combat. The changes were all fairly subjective. None were direct upgrades, and plenty weren't frequently asked for.

I agree with both of these. I liked the simplicity of Minecraft's mechanics. But polar bears and bone blocks? Really? There's literally NO USE for half the things they've been putting into Minecraft lately.
1
Agree. I very strongly feel as if the updates are going downhill. I don't think the game is dying or anything; I'm not arrogant enough to believe it will fail because it does things I think are bad, but, quite frankly, they're just adding content mods have already done years ago.
It's like they're trying to make mods, except they give up after adding the first 2 items and just ignore the stuff entirely once they've done a little bit with it. The game is an amazing basis for creative work and there's plenty of room for minor, non-intrusive improvements, but I guess invasive content that some people find interesting for a little while attracts more attention than the little things, useful as such may be.
I think the game is an amazing basis for creativity - It was like a bunch of art supplies and some paper. The more they update, though, the more invasive and inescapable the modern content becomes. Yes, you have the option to play older versions but you miss out on the positive quality of life changes. I wish they'd just make all of this new content optional instead of clogging up a neat world with it all. There's something magical in the abstract and surreal, and the more they add, the weaker that effect grows. The more clear things become, the less you can "fill in" with your own creativity.

I agree with this also

You're totally right! I think Mojang or Forge should create additional version of Minecraft where's it's possible to check which content you want to include in the game. Like the biomes, particular mobs, blocks, items, etc., and supply it with basic engine. Thus the performance of minecraft could be improved a lot (if you don't use redstone or other stuff you could completely uncheck it from the game).
The problems I see is implementation of such system and class references for mods that interacting with vanilla components.

Or they just had something else in mind..

It's not dying. And with the release of awesome updates like 1.9 and 1.10 (and hopefully 1.11 will be awesome too) it is quickly turning into a better game than it already is. I loved 1.9 and 1.10 and I hope future updates are all as awesome.
1
If you don't like updates, simply use older version, with the update of minecraft launcher it's very easy.
1
They added polar bears instead of pandas; yes
You brought this upon yourself mojang

Why the hell would people quit a game they payed $25 for?
I know grown-ups sometimes do but these kids that try and find girlfriends on Hypixel? No

Because you know maybe after like 6 years of same things over and over it gets boring?

I really don't care about what anybody replied to this thread because it's the same stuff but I'm just going to leave this picture. TBH I don't really know if it's true or not.

True.
I've haven't got the time to play 1.10 and above, but if it really is not to my appetite then I'll just backtrack to play 1.9, simple solution

Why does everyone forget about custom worlds? It is literally a world that you can customize almost anything!

This is annoying. Even if Minecraft is still dying, you can play it. My opinion: NO.

Minecraft has been dying since it was born. That's how the cycle of existence works.
Debating if it's dying when there is an active community on it is a rather silly thing to discuss in the first place.

No, I honestly don't think Minecraft is dying. You may have started playing MC with your friends years ago and then they suddenly begin to get bored of it and leave, like my friends, however, keep in mind that the game is still extremely popular and hundreds of thousands of new people are joining all the time.
However, Mojang shot themself in the foot when they updated their EULA and it prohibited people from using real-life currency to purchase things in-game that give you an advantage. Honestly, the thing that made Minecraft fun was buying awesome stuff to get better gear than your friends ! I sense socialism in Minecraft. You're only allowed to purchase things (excluding cosmetic items) that give you an advantage as long as EVERYONE gets them. Where's the point in that? Mojang, congrats, you shot yourself in the foot! If multiplayer dies, so do you!

Here we go again with the EULA issue.
They updated and started enforcing their EULA to prohibit corrupt pay2win servers and people profiting off their content.

no thats not the point of it. i don't play multiplayer with my friends, and i could never win anything because everyone else bought stuff making it impossible for me to win. The top kit on one server was $200! it basically becomes pay to win, and if you go cheap, you lose. i don't think it should be removed comepletely as bonuses are nice, however lots of servers went overboard on it. i think the eula was a good thing because now those annoying p2w servers can't charge you for winning their games or having op gear.

Alot off people still play but it's definitely dying on youtube...
1
I can agree with that, I've seen a lot of my favorite Youtubers views dying when they upload Minecraft. Minecraft seems like a topic people don't seem to enjoy on YouTube.
1
It was so popular for awhile, now everyone just needs a break.
Watch paulsoaresjr's "1 Million Soarvivors" video. It talks a bit about this, but mostly how he began to drop from the game.

These threads are completely pointless with their clickbait. No Minecraft is not dying, more people are buying it by the minute. Sure, some people may have left because of 1.9 and 1.10, but they are ultimately replaced with many other players.
1
I'm pretty sure people think minecraft is dying every update.
1
I think minecraft is dying in another way. it has nothing to do with updates i think. the game is just getting older. and less and less people are playing it. all the big servers i used to play with 500+ players. they don't exist anymore or got very few players. just the minecraft forums and pmc have alot less activity than it used to have. even more bigger people on pmc have become less active. for example grey remnant who used to post something on pmc everyday and responded to almost all my submissions and those of alot of others hardly comes online anymore his last submission was 4 months ago. pmc has 2 mil members and only 6 or 7k people online. alot of people have felt probaly theyve got to old to play it. and alot less new people are buying the game these days. Servers are getting emptyer aswell except for the few big ones like mineplex and the archon. But alot of other servers that used to be quite big are now dissapearing.
Its a slow death ofcourse.

I think Minecraft isnt "dying". I think its trying new things, and trying to base slightly more towards the kid fan base. All these people saying 1.9 or what ever update killed the game. I do agree that its getting kinda packed though.
If anything, Minecraft is evolving. (Basicly what I just explained, ik)
Its adapting to its enviorment. The fan base is growing by the thousands.
You can't please every one.
---------------
I do hate Microsoft is trying to get rid of the java aspect of Minecraft.
I think people are still paranoid do to the fact Notch left.

Minecraft is just coming to settle out of a huge pickup. Do any of you seriously think that an update is ruining Minecraft to the point where people just quit? Minecraft, like any other game, can get tiring after awhile. Less people play it for awhile, then some people go back. Etc.
1
Minecraft wouldn't be "dying" I don't see any point in discussing this topic. Minecraft would "die" if it was a living person. Minecraft would "die" if it was an animal. So the answer is no. Minecraft isn't "dying"

Have you ever played on Kit PVP servers where not paying gets you access to nothing but leather armor and a stone sword, but you can pay $200 to get full P4 diamond armor, S5 Fire 2 diamond sword, P5 Flame Infinity bow, 64 notch apples, and everything else you could possibly need to 1 hit everyone who doesn't have access to their parents credit cards?

I personally believe minecraft is not dieing, however it really depends where microsoft takes it from here.
