Minecraft just released the first Nether Update Snapshot and we couldn't be more excited! There are so many new features, blocks, biomes and a new ore in addition to bug fixes. It may just be our newest favorite update (nothing will ever beat the bees!) Alright, so here's the scoop!
🌳 NEW BIOMES! Three to be exact! All unique and so tempting to explore! CRIMSON FOREST Crimson is another word for "Red" so it's no surprise that this biome is red-themed! Red also means danger, so tread lightly! Huge fungi with weeping vines appear to make up the "trees" of this biome. The floor is covered in crimson Nylium with crimson roots growing, which you can't miss when entering this biome! Hoglins wander these forests, you might spot them through the bright red fog! |  Crimson Forest | |
SOULSAND VALLEY This biome are LARGE cages composed mostly of Soul Sand and Soul Soil. You'll find Basalt pillars from floor to ceiling and fossil remains of unknown creatures! What's that over there?! Is that a....skeleton?! Could hardley make it out with all of this ash falling in the air! This biome offers a blue glow, making it inviting but also a bit eerie at the same time. |  Soulsand Valley | |
WARPED FOREST You'll first notice the bright blue blocks beneath you - that's warped nylium carpets! New vegitation like warped stems and fungi can be found here! Similarly to the Crimson Valley, HUGE Warped Fungi make up the "trees" of this forest! Shroomlight light up the forest floor. Warped spores travel through the air. This biome is the least hostile place of the three! Note: The NETHER BIOME is now called Nether Wastes. |  Warped Forest |

| NETHERITE Netherite is the highest-level material and you can use to upgrade your diamond gear! Who would've thought that DIAMONDS could be upgraded...and if you couldn't tell, it's found in the Nether! Items made with Netherrite last longer and work faster (i.e. TOOLS) and do more damage (i.e. WEAPONS).
Alright I must need it but how do I make it?! First, you must mine Ancient Debris in the depths of the nether. Then refine it in a Furnace to make Netherite Scrap! The recipe is: 4 Nether Scrap + 4 Gold Ignots = Netherite Ingot! |  Netherite |
| pets A NEW MOB! OH. MY. Gersh! Look at that HOGLIN! Yep, that's the NEW MOB! You'll find them walking around aimlessly in the Crimson Forest and as of right now, they don't hurt you. Kill them if you must, but you won't reap any benefits besides a rotten flesh. And the loss of your dignity. |  Baby Hoglin |

- MC-17431 - Shift-clicking stacked items with a data tag into the enchanting table GUI removes data tags from the moved item
- MC-45619 - Water, Signs, Vines, Torches etc. in the same block as item frame break item frame’s redstone signal
- MC-52178 - Cape doesn’t move down while sneaking / Cape detaches from body while sneaking
- MC-59363 - Items in item frames are deleted if both mouse buttons are used simultaneously
- MC-82235 - Baby pigs turn into adult zombie pigmen when struck by lightning
- MC-92889 - Mending doesn’t always consume experience if the player wears items with mending that are already fully epaired
- MC-93198 - Throwing potions / throwable projectiles causes both hands to bob up and down
- MC-93631 - Pistons pop off blocks attached to their back when retracting
- MC-96436 - Eggs/snowballs/xp-bottles break instantly when thrown while riding a horse

This is a complete game changer. Imagine all the servers that now need to change how their PVP systems work. Netherite is going to be crazy. Now all we need is harder enemies to fight.

Go to your Minecraft launcher, click on "Installations", and click the box that says "Snapshots". If I recall correctly, this should give you a button to launch Minecraft with the update.

I have found a easy(-ish) way to find ancient debris!
all you need is to be at 15 on the y axis and have 32 TNT and a flint and steel.

Did they not include piglins in the snapshot, or did they just trash the idea all together? They seemed like a pretty cool concept to me.

It just wasn't included yet. I am sure they have a lot of things to come and they will include them in the snapshots when they are ready.

Only thing that I'm worried about is that diamond could become obsolete after a certain point, personally i think that they should make Netherite items repairable with levels and diamonds to make sure they can stay with having a good use

I personally think it will be extremely rare to see anyone wearing more than one or two pieces of netherite armor. It’s only a little better than diamond, and honestly so rare that it’s debatable weather it’s even worth getting a full set or not.

Diamonds will not become obsolete, simply for the same reason that people still mine iron, redstone, emeralds, stone and gold. And diamonds will still be easier to find too.

The new Basalt block would be awesome to get a slab and stair variant off! :D Thus making more dark and gothic-ish horror houses easier to make in vanilla :D

Nether Update is going to be great. I fell in love with the Crimson Forest Biome! I didn't expect Netherite to be added at all, and this element is great (RIP Diamonds)! I was really surprised!

For the whole update, I'm most excited about the piglins. Zombie pigmen/zombie piglins have been too mysterious for too long, and I'm glad to see the remnants of their once-proud civilization hanging in there. In this snapshot, the epic new nether biomes. They are so perfect, even their names are awesome!

Finally, a use for gold: stronger-than-diamond netherite equipment.
My vote is Other- wall blocks will finally show up as continuous walls instead of having gaps, and that will be extremely helpful for my builds.
