Pixel Transparency in Mob Skins (Question)
Heya!
I started improving my enderman texture, and it's looking pretty great!
But I don't know if what I'm trying to do is possible in vanilla Minecraft - having semi-transparent pixels in the skin.
I know full transparency works just fine, that's why the skeleton works, but what I mean is when any one pixel is, for instance, 50% transparent.
And I don't want to require mods for the texture pack to work properly, so that isn't an option. I just want to know if semi-transparent pixels are visible as semi-transparent rather than full or no transparency.
And I'll probably make a version for Bedrock Edition as well, so I would like to know everything there is to know about both games and support for semi-transparency in mobs.
Please let me know in the comments.
Edit: I just read something on the Minecraft Formus asking the same thing, and someone replied saying that most mobs don't support it, the slime only works because that's specifically coded to have opacity. I still want to make 100% sure, so I will be keeping this up for a while.

AFAIK, there is no way to do this in vanilla (other than for some parts of some mobs [and a few blocks])
IIRC, the cut-off point is 10%: anything under that is rendered as transparent (0% fill), anything over as solid (100% fill)
If things have changed and you find a way to do this, please publish (I've several skins that would benefit from the game rendering them as I intended).

All right, thanks for letting me know some specifics. I really wish I could make the arms and legs of my enderman fade away, but I guess that probably isn't possible. Still, I like the result, even without transparency.

I agree, Minecraft Reworked - Enderman would look very nice with the purple bits fading out to fully transparent at the tips…
