the copper golem doesnt rust, it oxidizes like normal copper
and the devs have confirmed that you will be able to reverse the oxidization with an axe
and prevent it from oxidizing with wax

The three mobs are kinda useless but the copper golem will give us a copper button and it can be used for decoration the allay honestly seems more useless.

not necessarily u can make him a Dj by placing a few copper blocks on noteblocks
or maybe set up a simple tnt trap and as ur running away from people trying to kill u ona server, then unrust the statue with an axe so it sets off the trap as ur running
i mean they can perminatly be de rusted with wax so it can add some varibility

Well, oxidized Copper Golems can act as amazing statues, or just living golems roaming around some kind of steampunk build would be beautiful.
