What (newish) vanilla features do you actually use?help_outline
Hi gang!
So... this post was inspired by our very own ColleansWorld who recently shared a bunny rant with us. I mentioned the thread to my friend Aya and it got us thinking a bit about all the (somewhat) recently added features and the stuff we actually used or enjoyed.
For example... Minecraft once added foxes and Aya thinks they're some of the cutest mobs (especially if they're asleep) but at the same time Aya is pretty indifferent about them because (quote): "I only see them on the map, they always run away from me". (note: we're usually playing with mods which includes a (mini)map).
We also have options to obtain pottery shards but once again... only in specific places such as the trial chambers or by finding suspicious sand or ditto gravel which generate in the overworld underneath desert pyramids or wells (sand) or underneath ocean monuments (gravel). Which also led to us wondering... if you're raiding such a structure, do players really take the time to look for those pottery shards while there are bigger treasures to pursue?

Left: sand, right: suspicious sand.
Or how about buried treasure? Sure, you can get a map but even then... does the time & effort weigh up against the profits?

Example drop from buried treasure...
And there are dozens more example... trail ruins which often only consist of a few blocks and are difficult to identify because only a few specific blocks can be visible on the ground. Shipwrecks which can easily be fully submerged, same for ocean ruins. And also mobs like the wandering trader, frogs or armidillo.
Leading up to the question at hand....
Which vanilla features do you actually use and/or always seek out?
Where "feature" is meant a bit global; places of interest, mobs, etc.
Thanks for participating!

Question is sort of all over the place (particularly given igloos were added in 1.9[?])
Newly added 'stuff' tends to generate a pulse of interest as content makers jump on and players want to play with the latset bright shiny object: foxes are something of a case in point as automatic sweet berry farms were [briefly] a 'thing' (until the realization that they aren;t a particularly good food and have no other use).
For all time most useless structure, I'd nominate the desert well.
Most useful is harder as thetre are several that continue to hold significant utility: cage spawners (from beta forward), mineshafts (1.8[?]), and ocean monuments (also 1.8[?]) in the overworld with fortress (nether) and end cities (end) all being high on the list.
