I like the small tweak packs that change everything, but in a miniscule way that doesn't heavily change the "Vanilla feel"

It depends. I like it when a resource pack "adds" new items, blocks, or mobs using items with the Custom Model Data tag rather than replacing a preexisting one with textures.

It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Basically you modify the .json model file for an item with a CustomModelData tag ingame given by the /give command.

}Then you'll need a model file matching the name of the model you're referring to within the predicate, which will link to the custom texture you're using.1
