In fact, that's pretty much how every movie is now when it's pulling ideas from something else, whether it be a film adaptation, a sequel, or reboot. The producers always have this sort of mindset: "As long as this movie is called (title), and if it has (this character) played by (that celebrity), then there's no way I'm going to walk out of this without a ton of money!" The biblical greed of these people is what leads to wealth-mongering films that kill creativity.

In my opinion, I don't think that minecraft ever needed its own movie, Because the game was already popular on its own. Even if it did, the most aesthetic choice for design in the movie would to make it completely animated, Live action just feels out of place for something like minecraft.

I think it's fine, none of the above. all the "its not animated" stuff gets old quick, besides it being live action means for props for fans to buy. The "acting is bad" feels like unfair, as all the actors have been praised multiple times for their work in other films. The plot is a little unoriginal but i have my hopes that they'll mix it up. The writing is actually pretty funny at times. And the cgi... as funny as it is, they could have gone easy on the villager wrinkles... Everyone is obsessed with nitpicking the movie to find EVERY SINGLE DETAIL they dislike instead of looking at what's good. It's been like watching a Cinemasins video on repeat for the last few months.

Minecraft Story Mode was so good because it stayed mostly original (apart from the wither storm and stuff like that) and was just so Minecraft-y.
