I've been screwing around with the old versions of Minecraft and I started to wonder which version the majority of you started playing in? If you'd like to say exactly which version you started in, please do so in the comments.

I started in Update 1.5 on the xbox 360. it was the very first game i ever played on a microsoft device.

I started playing Java edition in 1.7.10, but I played Pocket Edition for about a year before that in 0.8, when they didn't have infinite or flat worlds, there was no caves, and instead of a nether dimension there was a nether reactor that spawned a giant netherrack mountain in your world.

Started off on Java Edition Official Release 1.2, and then went over to Console Legacy Xbox 360 Edition on TU 9 until I came back to Java Edition at 1.10, and then once 1.13 came out, I switched over to Bedrock Edition and have been solid since.

Cool. Were you surprised when Alpha 1.2.0 came out and suddenly everything was really dark and gloomy because of the Halloween update? That's when they changed grass to be non-nuclear. (it's not the official name for that color though)

1.8 for me and I still remember that weekend as if it were yesterday.. My girlfriend had been playing Minecraft for quite a few weeks and finally decided during a weekend visit to show me around. One thing led to the other and I got my account (and game) that very same evening. We started playing together that Friday evening and went to bed when we suddenly noticed that it already got light outside! 😮
That's also the game where I learned that you couldn't fly in survival mode as you can do in Creative ;)

I think Beta but my clearest memories I have is with the very early Xbox 360 version, like with the old tutorial map and such. So old enough where I deserve a veterans discount.

1.7 - 1.8, I started playing once I saw a B-Team series and had to get the game <3 I didn't start using mods for a whole year though because of how crappy my computer was at the time

My first ever version was the free version of PE (PE Alpha) but i shortly got java 1.6.4. I still consider 1.6.4 one of the best versions

i had just bought the game right now but i think i started playing in infdev or pre classic. Idk i cant give any of my files cuz the pc which had them died due to MINECRAFT RTX

I've heard many things about the RTX stuff, I think I'll just stick to shaderpacks instead... lol

Yeah, I got the demo during the 1.9 days but my first official non-demo world was in 1.10.2. I still have it on my cruddy old laptop...

For me it was Alpha, I don't remember exactly which version, but I'm pretty certain I still have the Jar file for it somewhere in an old backup.

Cool! Can you try to look for the jar? There are a number of different versions that haven't been archived on the gamepedia and they're looking for people with backups that might still have them. Check it out when you get the chance.
