I think the snapshots are always better because they have more features.

I don't usually use anything above 1.12.2 because the resource pack I use and the servers I frequent don't support 1.13 yet.

I don't hate the new versions, I quite like the new mobs and such, but I feel like they're adding stuff too quickly- we barely just got 1.13, a ton of servers still use 1.12, yet they're already developing 1.14 snapshots like slow down lol

I really liked 1.12.2 because it was that moment right before Minecraft got too realistic. I really dislike what they did to the new updates (I mean they're all cool) but I want Minecraft to be what it was made for, not REALISTIC, a fun survival game that you can play by yourself or with friends with new adventures. Every time I step into an old survival world it brings back so many happy feelings inside and I just don't feel like Minecraft needs to become more realistic because then idk it becomes way more complicated and stuff.

I don't like the new textures or the new ocean stuff, instead of mining you can just explore the ocean, it's too OP in my opinion

I periodically work in these versions of the game 1.6.4 / 1.8 / 1.8.9 / 1.10 - 1.10.2 / 1.11-1.11.2 / 1.12 - 1.12.2 / 1.13. I would have to say my favorite is 1.12.2. I have this one all set up the way I like it with all the tools I use for creating as well as trying to put together a small mod for what I am creating.

The old ones are cool, but the new one is the cooler one!

I would honestly say none of the above and go for Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.7.1 as in my case, active Redstone Builds don't seem to cause lag as it did for me from the Java Edition 1.11 and up. Bedrock Edition also allows for crossplay, which allows me to play with friends on Xbox LIVE. Also Achievements on LIVE that aren't connected world to world but can be unlocked in any world towards your LIVE profile is also nice.

Now nothing will ever compare to terrain generation of Minecraft Java Edition 1.1 and back (Referring to when it was simply the PC version of Minecraft)

I honestly prefer 1.8 because things were so much better back then. After 1.9, Minecraft just went into some weird directions. There are some things I enjoy about the newer versions like the Elytra and some of the new blocks like the concrete, but the speed swinging just ruins it. So I'm gonna go with 1.12.2 for this one. I don't really like 1.13+ other than turtles and the new swimming animation. Plus the new snapshot looks kinda good. Pillages might not be a bad thing. But then, there isn't really much you're protecting. Most villager trades are worthless. The only ones that are good are the books which you can get easily by enchanting books yourself, and the emerald trades like an emerald for 17 wheat. But what're you gonna use the emeralds for? More trading?

But anyways, I prefer 1.8, but it's not on here, so 1.12.2 it is.

To me the latest and greatest is always best, so 1.13.2 it is. The new command set, datapacks and of course all the watery stuff are really dealbreakers to me. Of course the only downside (or would that be a pro?) is that hardly any server already supports it. Which suits me just fine because even though OptiFine has finally been released for 1.13.2 I still get better performance on 1.12.2.

Rip. No 1.10.2 or lower versions are on the poll. You don't have to limit yourself to newer versions of Minecraft. You can still make old servers look fantastic and people will flock to the older versions of Minecraft if you make it work. Heck, you could make a fusion server (Like a mix between 1.10, 1.9, and 1.8) and it would still be groovy! But alas, I might be wrong. Newer versions are the future and they have more things to build with, as some say. :P
