What Would Be the Most Controversial Change to the Game?
Here is a list of things Mojang could add that would cause massive controversy in the Minecraft community. Which one do you think would receive the most backlash? What would you do if these changes were made? Or, if you have any other ideas, let me know in the comments.

First one, should be so many variety of mobs, like snow, desert, cherry blossom and jungle.
Speaking of new village biomes, would be great to add village with different biomes feature in the game, datapacks being predicted to the future before update.

Changing the creeper texture would be cool tbh, but obviously the community hates everything soo

The most controversial change, in my opinion, would be ending support for playing older versions of Minecraft.
One of the reasons players love Minecraft is that they can play any version they want, for as long as they want. However, with Windows 11 succeeding Windows 10, and newer operating systems doing so in the distant future, Microsoft/Mojang will face a dilemma, that what worked on Windows 7, may not work for Windows 12, 13, 14, etc.
So the corporation would have to make the hard decision: to end support for older versions of the game.
One example is the use of emulators people rely on to play Minecraft on ARM-based Apple MacBooks. Native support only starts at 1.19.X, so anyone wishing to enjoy 1.12 nostalgia will be disappointed. Why someone wants to play Minecraft on a Mac is beside the point. The fact ARM processors cannot natively run older versions, which were meant for x86 architecture (for engineering-related reasons) creates an issue for players who were used to Intel-based MacBooks, which can play those versions natively. This isn't too controversial, because most people play the game on Windows, but also players use emulators, though at the expense of performance.
I enjoy playing version 1.16. I'll be sad if support ever stops, though that should be a very long time from now.

Not being able to play old versions would kill this game, period. The cycle of nostalgia with Minecraft would be hamstrung. That's not to mention this website would lose so much of its content cause it would be dead weight if its not updated to the most recent version.
We are blessed to be able to play previous versions of the game for any purpose. I couldn't play worlds in the same version I created and predominately played them in among other things.

This is especially true since its a sandbox game, and being able to play on old versions is part of the genre, especially if its moddablke.
Even terraria allows you to go back to its previous major versions

With all the freeware alternatives of which many you can own, there is no incentive to do a SaaS.

Number 1 is pretty much meaningless (at least for java) [Not that it wouldn't cause at least as much drama as the quest for birchier birchbark did…]
Number 2 has already happened [$13 USD → $27 USD in ~2011, not counting the jump from free in the indev stages] Meanwhile inflation since then has reduced the effective price ~$19 in 2011 dollars…
Numbers 4 & 5 would likely precipitate mods that restored the status quo ante [at least for java] although I'd expect a ---storm of opprobrium directed at MS/Mj for being that braindead in public. [Again for the javites, br players might just be more stuck in the 'MarketPlace" ]
Number 3 or 6 would likely lead a flurry of cracks, hacks, and so on until someone managed to launch an OSRIC style "CraftyMining" [Again more likely to be the javite exodus to the holyland leaving the br players to MS/Mj's tender care.]

There would be no way in hell I would play Minecraft if there was a monthly subscription.
Suspending my account if I install mods or data packs is a close second. How could anyone play this game without them if Mojang can't rely on the community to make up they can't offer within the game?
