Java is better in terms of content but bedrock is better with proformance (not crashing) so there both good.

java is much better in terms of community, and modding and all that stuff, but bedrock has better fps, but most of those types of kids go on there, with exceptions of course.

Got 2, 1 to play with a friend who has the win10 edition as well and the java edition for everything else.

As more people stated: the micro transactions are a big no no for me, specially coming from the alpha age where Mojang didn't pay for any advertising other then handling out copy's of MC to youtubers.

I think they got so big for a reason and Microsoft is there only to get bigger for a reason and that reason is only to make money.

For me the true Minecraft experience is Java.

Java edition seams to be winning till now.

[Updates will be targeted towards Java from now]

Bedrock Edition definitely runs faster, but it's ruined for me by the microtransaction-filled store page that Microsoft pushes so hard. Java is better in terms of community and support for servers and mods.

I love the Java Edition. But I'm baised since I've played this version since forever. But some thoughts would be that Java Edition's redstone makes a whole lot of more sense and is a lot more consistent, and well it is a lot more popular so builds and mods and datapacks are a huge thing.

Things I love about Bedrock that I wish was in Java would be 1) Bedrock Edition is sooooooo smooth, I have a potato, but even good PCs struggle getting stable framerates on Java Edition (even with Optifine) and 2) Pushing Tile Entities with pistons. I wish I could push chests and furnaces around using pistons *-*

I never really played the bedrock edition, but honestly, I just like Java better.
Not a good answer, but hey, I'm just being honest... also I suck at explaining things, so yeah. XD

Some versions of the game are better suited for different tasks, I'm gonna list off all the ones on the top of my head:

Java:
Customization
Servers
Legacy Support
Redstone
Single-player

Bedrock:
Updates
Multiplayer (with friends)
Control Input Device Change (switch from a keyboard and mouse to a controller and back again seamlessly)
Commands

There might be more than these are the ones that come to my mind whenever someone compares the two.
