Confirmed, my texture pack has zombies with a hole in their chest and a bite out of their heads.

I see them in the mobs folder of 1.9.3. Look for the villager folder.

zombies definetly support transparency, for my pack im making, its got no head.

I have a theory that while the players skin (Which everone can see) can't have transparency apart from the hat layer, a texture packs char.png could have transparency to it. I'll test this theory later once I have time.

I think all mobs apart from the Character can have transparency. Zombies and The character can have hats and I don't know about the villagers as I haven't tested them.

The best way to find out is probably to use a texture pack were the mobs have transparent parts to see if they can be seen through.

Since you are changing the actual .png file in the texture pack, all of them should support transparency.

I think mobs do support transparency, I have seen headless zombies before.

I don't think mobs can have hats and no mobs support transparency I believe, the skeleton is just a different model.
