People are "scared" of him because of all of those stories where he actually is aggressive, and because of the mods also make him aggressive. I have even read a story where HE ACTUALLY GOES THROUGH THE MONITOR AND KILLS YOU. That story, just because of that part, just made Herobrine 50% less scarier. And, think about it, he isn't scary. I've gotten 30+ rage comments on another site JUST for saying that he isn't real. That tells you that Herobrine is just worshipped. All actual "sightings" in Minecraft are glitches, texturepacks, mods, or even a photoshopped image.

Because they buy into all these attention-grabbing stories. If you look through this section, you'll see that most posts are made by level 1/2s looking for attention and popularity. The original creepy pasta, and the Brocraft Stream were admitted to be fake. Herobrine isn't, and NEVER WAS in the game.

They really shouldn't be. He can't affect real life and, according to the original story, isn't even voilent in the game. Just shy.
