I'm having issues installing Optifine, it won't let me open the Optifine file with Java.
I rightclick the file open with>search>java>jre1.8.0_077>bin. then i doubleclick java.exe and then it just closes, and then I'm back at the "Open With" and i can't klick OK due to nothing being selected

This might be over complicating it but follow these instructions:
I will be assuming you are using Windows.
1. Put OptiFine into it's own folder.
2. Open your command prompt (this is usually done by pressing the windows key and R and typing "cmd" into the box without quotes)
3. Type cd then the location of OptiFine
Example: cd C:\Users\DeJay\Desktop\Example
4. Proceed to type:
java -jar OptiFine_1.9.0_HD_U_B1.jar (or exactly whatever the jar is named, please do not forget .jar to the end)
Note: These directions were done from the top of my head, there might be an error with one of these commands)

you need to open it like this right click on the optifine you just downloaded and press open with "java(TM) platform SE binary lol and you might need to update your java. also make sure you have the correct client matching the optifine version hope this helps
