I cant op myself ive tried every thing.ive tried the console the ops file and in game some one please help me.

List all the plugins your server is using, your servers java version, your servers version, your client version, copy the content of the ops.txt file here, and tell me if you're using bukkit or spigot.

I am not using 1.7.2, I am using 1.6.2!

I have no plugins at all. I created this server correctly. By the way I am using a mac.

There is a bug with bukkit 1.7.2: op doesn't work. I have the same problem.

no its not a bug with bukkit 1.7.2 i can op my staff and permissions work so probally his server installation or plugins are conflicting

HELP ME I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM!!!!! I just yesterday made a bukkit server and then, once I got on, tried to op myself-- but couldn't!!! I am very confused!! I even went to ops.txt and put "supersteve2012" but without the quotes! Then I went to server.log and put "op supersteve2012" without the quotations and that didn't even work! I even tried that when the server was off and when the server was on and If i was on minecraft or not, I TRYED EVERYTHING. I have to admit that I am not the best at using technology, for it took me two days to fid my IP for the server. so PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

What is your server I.P and what permissions plugin do u use?

If you are the first ever op on the server you must use console to do it I believe.
go into console and send this> op <player>

when your in the op file, if there is already someone there (not u) press enter and type ur username.

Mike, if your admins aren't op anymore do /op [ADMIN-USER] then they will receive the OP Status

i was already op thats why im so confused and all my admins arent op any more.

There is another way to op somebody without going through. Go to a text document, it should be titled ops. Type your minecraft name in there and you are opped! Hope this helped...
