I've been playing minecraft for many years and noticed fps won't go over 60 fps even though i have vsync turned off and fps limit above 60 fps.
I use Ubuntu.

Some GPUs will limit themselves to whatever the limits of the monitor they are connected to are

why you want to have higher fps anyways with 60hz monitor? there won't be visible difference.

I do not see difference between 300 fps and 60fps VSync on my laptop.

That means you are limited visually to 60fps but you conputer may say higher. That could be your problem

erm, you might have a program that tells you fps, 60 is most likely what your computer takes, my pc is 60 FPS, so it should be normal

64-bit Gnome 3.26.1
Processor: Intel® Pentium(R) CPU G3250 @ 3.20GHz × 2

You may have a setting such as Vsync enabled through your gpu software, such as nvida control panel or the AMD equivalent.
