Minecraft forge 1.10.2 not wanting to work

So I have download forge for 1.10.2 minecraft multiple times and each time it does not work. I open my minecraft launcher and it says "download 1.10.2-forge" on the green play button. Then I click the play button and it says "Launch Failed, The version you are trying to play inherits properties from an unknown version. Any help that would be great. Thanks

try using multiMC and install forge that way

Sadly that did not work it still says i need to download 1.10.2 forge when I already have 1.10.2 forge installed and 1.10.2 download

you need to install Vanilla 1.10.2 first before installing forge for it

Have you tried launching vanilla 1.10.2 first?
