Modding 1.4.2 in 2018

hello! I’ve been around Minecraft planet quite a bit however this recent issue has gotten to me, I watch a YouTuber named UberHaxorNova, in 2013 I believe he played a modpack I affectionately call ‘adventures in asgard’
this pack included:
Portal Guns
Too many items
Mo’ Creatures
BicBiomeCraft
Crafting Guide
Tree Capitator
Pam’s Harvest Craft
Rail Craft
Camp Craft
BackPacks
TwilightForest
Rei’s minimap
Legendary creatures
Forge
And I really loved the series he made, so I was hoping someone could help me mod 1.4.2 as this is the version he used I believe. I’ve watched atleast 5 tutorial videos and all of them had different methods and still didn’t end up working, I looked to the mojang site for help and it has said I should run versions that old in different directories, which I tried and it worked the first few times however it crashed a bit later and when I tried to install forge for the old version it didn’t register it. If you have any help please explain in great detail and contact me here, in pms, on discord, or by email.

You really don't need the Technic launcher for this.
First, go into your launcher, click "Launch options" and click the "Add new."
Once you click that, click version and select "1.4.2", then click the "Save."
After, click the little arrow next to "Play" and select your 1.4.2 version profile.
Run the game.
After running the game you need to install Forge, click on "Universal" and click "Skip" at the top.
You then will have a .zip file, go into .Minecraft and go into versions. Open the .jar file with 7-zip, and drag the zip's contents in to the .jar file to replace them.
Now, run Minecraft 1.4.2 again. Go back into your .minecraft folder and create a folder called "mods"
Then, just download the 1.4.2 mods you want and paste them in the "mods" folder.\

I switched versions and it brought up the start but it didn't even get me to the title screen before it gave me the following crash report:

that seems to happen with 1.5.X and lower

Indeed, but I need a solution for it, I still see people playing these older versions no issue and I'm not sure how its done, I was hoping some sort of java genius would be able to help haha XD

You might need to use the old launcher.
