It would be helpful if you post both your permissions file and essentials configuration. If you could, use pastebin.com and link us to what you posted. Most of the time, bukkit/spigot plugins have issues with spacing issues. You can message me and I'll take a look at both for you and I'll see if I can replicate what you're experiencing and, at the very least, guide you in the right direction.

You Could use A Alternate Plugin Other Than Essentials! But The Perm Node Is Essentials.kits.(KIT NAME)
Or If You Want To Give All Kits Then Do essentials.kits.*

Hey, buddy! The permission node for a certain kit is essentials.kits.[name] Remember to put "kitS" not "kit".
