Not Enough Items Lag

So, when I play with Not Enough Items, whenever I open my inventory it is really laggy. The lag gets worse the more items I have showing up there, if I disable NEI there is no lag when entering my inventory at all. Just wondering if anyone knows a magical fix for this. I've been using CraftGuide to manage, but it's really a pain to use when it comes to multi step recipes like IndustrialCraft 2 machines.

Ah, ok, thats it. When you open NEI, it has to load ALL the objects and their models. You have a lovely AMD E2 APU @1.7 GHz most likely with it's integrated APU graphics and it's stressing them out. You'd need a better computer pretty much =p

I've been doing some testing, it seems like alot of other people have issues with NEI lag. If I disable NEI, the lag completely disappears. Narrowing down the items that are searchable also helps but I still lag 3-4 seconds after opening/closing my inventory, and using recipe mod is still very laggy.

Other than the NEI lag, my minecraft has been running pretty smoothly even though this isn't the best computer for it.
