Only optifine versions work all other versions the java crashes at multiplayer screen

So when I try to play minecraft I can only run optifine versions for some odd reason. When I try to play anything that isn't optifine it loads fine then when I get to the Singleplayer, Multiplayer, etc screen. Everything freezes, java stops responding, and it crashes due to an unexpected error
