Imagine a universe in which you are the 1400 year old Time Lord known as, The Doctor. Imagine You had the ability to travel to new planets, Now imagine that you weren't imagining this. You are the 12th Doctor, you have a Type 40 T.A.R.D.I.S and you are able to travel to and explore an untold number of worlds, taking on quests to save those worlds in this exciting Story Driven Sandbox Hybrid Game being built on-top of minecraft based on the entire universe of Doctor Who!

The iKingsSGC Mod Division is looking to recruit new members to work on the Mod Division projects ( Doctor Who Client Mod and Stargate Chevron 7. We need at least one of each category (preferably coders). You must have past experience in either coding,creating pixel art and textures,or mob modeling as well as proof of past work. (Proof may come in the form of code, video, or pictures.) Applicants must include some kind of proof of prior experience, any applicants who do not comply with this request will be denied.

If you do not receive a response or personal message than your application has been carefully considered by the entire mod team and the outcome of the decision was not in your applications favor. (denied)

All Applicants must include the all sections listed below in their application for us to get a better understanding and insight into your skillset and personality

Originally Founded by TheiKing in the iKingsSGC and partnered with Yofreke, the Mod Division strives to break down the established barriers of minecraft modding and providing the modding community with an entirely new way to develop their modifications. Planet Preview - Is This Trenzalore?

MAY 19TH, 2013 - THEIKING

To make up for the recent iKingsSGC Forums downtime and the delay of the previously scheduled iKings Daily Report and Random Development Ramblings Episode 3 I decided to slap this thing together for y'all to enjoy.

So now the question becomes....is this Trenzalore? A graveyard planet, a mysterious dark atmosphere, the cloisterbell!

Did we know about Trenzalore and the conclusion of the Clara mystery months before the episode was aired or does TheiKing just have an open conference call with stephen moffat that was interrupted by faceless beings?!

Ok so this is a quick "State of everything" post to save me some time! There is no video regarding DWCM in this daily report. This is more of a post that lets yall know what is going on with all the iKingsSGC and Mod Division Projects.

So right now my microphone has gone "missing" since new years eve and I cant record audio to give you all informational posts. So I decided to shake things up a bit and do a series of cinematic videos that will feature a specific smart entity or feature each video. The first of which i am working on is a new cinematic video featuring the Weeping Angels (they have secret features you wont find out about until you play the game.)

Now lets discuss a little bit about the Mod Division team. So I have got some new trial developers working on projects....or rather about to work on their first assignments once I pack them all up. We also have a new trial modeler who I assigned to model a classic/modern DW monster.

Moving on to stuff about planets. I have gotten an update to a really cool planet. I dont want to tell you waht the planet until it is complete enough to show you. World gen on this planet is almsot complete and let me tell you.......you wont want to be alone in the dark while visiting this planet.

I also have a new trail developer working on Shileghleh, the leprechaun homeplanet in the system of legends. Got some cool and fun new systems that tie into world generation and entities on this planet.

Final topic of interes for DWCM, I have another trial dev who will begin work on the new sonic screwdriver gui. This GUI is probably one of the most intriguing systems I have concepted for DWCM...well Idk about that but it certainly is the most user interactive GUI I have come up with.Once that is done I will do a daily report.

Now lets move on to the iKingsSGC MOd Division Launcher. Progress on the launcher is moving along All that is left to do on the launcher is our custom RSS engine and the iKingsSGC Forums account login. We are having issues parsing 2 of the RSS feeds for a reason that is still....well its not reall making any sense. The dev working on the launcher, Eddie has mid-terms the next week and a half so he has to study and development on the launcher will resume once he finishe his exams.

Moving onto Daily Reports. I really want to get them posted Bi-daily...but in order to do that I need my microphone back or buy a new one. If I cant find the 100$ mic I already own I will be forced to have to buy a new one which really sucks.
On another point of interest for daily reports is that I am thinking of renaming them ot iKings Daily Prophet......no reason really except to unite themes of the iKingsSGC, in this case a little tribute to our flagshop Server.

Speaking of Hogwarts RP Experience, work is going great on it, except for the fact that DotEfekts is on vacation at his dads house and cant compile the new versions of the plugins I sent him lol. So I need to wait till he gets back home and is able to fix the decompiling issues and compile the new versions. Once that is done DotEfekts will begin working on the new plugins, which are amazingly cool and probably the best concepts I have come up with.....ive still got to do the artwork for those plugins though..yay. Construction is still underwway and most of it requires the additional plugins for me to move any further with that.

I have also been working on several new animations and graphics. Take a look at the first new Hogwarts RP Experience Intro/Trailer animation that is styled after the Daily Prophet Newspaper

sorry for the lack of Daily Reports and othe updates. My ankle has been really killing me the past week and its been hard for me to get the motivation to get a video recorded.

Thats not the only reason I haevnt recorded anything. Since last week I have had a wisdom tooth coming in and my god is it coming in a bad way. Is impacted into my check so I may need to have surgury to get it removed. I can barely open my mouth to drink anything it hurts that bad so thats why i havent been able to record any audio commentary.

If my mouth doesnt start feeling better soon or I have to goto the dentist I will probably be shifting back to the old format of the Daily Reports (2 minute showing footage with background music playing) until I am able to do commentary again.

Just wanted to let you guys know what is up, but dont worry development is still going on. We finished the world generation for one planet and our new coder ben has started work on another really amazing planet that I think you guys will love.

Also one of our trial developers has begun work on the Mod Division Launcher which will be able to select which Mod Division project you want to play (Doctor Who Client Mod, Stargate Chevron 7 and our new minor project Harry Potters Wizardly World Client Mod.) I think you guys will really like the launcher when you see it. I worked on some basic concepts for them (not sure youd want to see them)

Official Plans for Releases:

Below is a slightly updated version of our previous Official Plans for Release with a video for todays iKings Daily Report.
  1. Pre-Alpha Development stage: Only Mod Division staff has access to the game. This is our current stage of development and this is not anywhere ready to need external testers. We test as we make. No need to mix in outsiders and wait for them to respond when we can do it faster ourselves.
  2. A closed 5-Slot alpha group that will take place for at least 2 weeks to a month and a half (or however long it takes to finish the game enough so that you can play through the central storyline of the game)
  3. The third phase of testing will be a larger alpha group (still closed however) somewhere around 20-30 slots in this alpha group. In this phase we will be adding all the secondary missions and just finishing up things that need to be finished and debugging everything. This allows us to change anything we need to without there being a major public out cry Then we will do an Exclusive Alpha to YouTubers and prominent members of the Minecraft community such as Direwolf20 (YouTube) and Paril (PlanetMinecraft) and others that produce content that we think is respectable. This version will hopefully be close to a public beta version. It will have most if not all of the core main features in the game and it will have mostly every bug worked out. This wont be a finished product but it will be playable enough to get in-depth bug reports. No Alpha member will be able to publish videos of the DWCM until the Public Beta is released as to not give them an unfair advantage over aspiring youtubers.
  4. After that we will be opening a public beta eventually once the original alpha group (phase 2) and the bigger alpha group (phase 3) and the exlusive alpha (phase 4) have been able to play through the game and provide us with a list of bugs they come across of and features that they think should be added in before the beta is released.

PLEASE DO NOT ASK TO BE PART OF THE ALPHA GROUP OR WHEN IT WILL BE RELEASED, THERE IS NO ESTIMATED RELEASE DATE

Pre-Release Policy

Welcome people who want pre-releases and are wondering why we dont do them.

To start this topic off I would just like to ask you......have you ever...ever seen a game developer release unstable snippets of a game that you cant even possibly behind to understand without having every little detail explained to you just so you can launch it.

All of that before a stable alpha version is even completed?

The answer is most likely....no.

This is not a mod as you know modifications to be. We are making a whole game within minecraft. This takes time and loads of work. We simply cannot be expected to try an maintain unstable and unfinished products to the thousands and thousands of our followers. That would be insane.

Our current stage of development is a stage called Pre-Alpha Development. What this means is that we are currently building the very framework of everything. This stage is meant for creating the hundreds of pieces (dots) and trying to play connect the dots and connect each feature to each other. All this while still trying to come up with more creative ways to do what we have planned. Sure we could be like the majority of modders and be totally uncreative and add a few blocks in add a few mobs in.....but that is dull and has been done to death. What happened to inspired creative thinking and its execution.

What would you rather have....us spending every waking moment of free time developing just for the sake of giving a crappy pre-release and struggling to handle the public outcry at the thousands of people who downloaded it and dont know how to operate it. Or would you rather have us developing this game in a way that we are comfortable and dont feel like we are working as slaves to you all for no pay.

We are doing this for free. The Mod Division is a small team. We have 1 java developer, 3 modelers (2 are inactive) , and we have me... I am the game designer, I come up with nearly all the concepts that you all see, I make all the textures, I do all the graphics I write all the posts and I do all the videos. We are a small team working hard for no pay and we have only recieved a small donation once and that went straight back into hosting the iKingsSGC Forums.

All the time we have goes into developing in a way that makes us feel proud of the work we do.

So, just let me ask you this. If I were to say screw it and release the mod in its current incomplete buggy as hell, error filled version. Which of these scenarios would be more likely to happen in all of reality.

Scenario #1 : The Dream World

[*]they eat all the computers ram and cpu power then......WHAM crash...maybe your game just crashes or maybe your CPU shuts down to protect itself...who knows[/*]
[*]They launch the game again, they try to go to candyland......wham....crash! (broken currently in 1.2.3 because of anvil)[/*]
[*]They launch the game again to find out they somehow are in the nether with no way out and every chunk loading at the same time...WHAMO CRASH AGAIN[/*]

As much as many people would like to have Doctor Who minecraft mod in your hands at this very moment you have to think of what the quality would be like and what the people who would be developing it would be like and would go through.

So in terms of quality I think you all know that the iKingsSGC Mod Division and myself in particularly are very anal about the quality of the products we put out. I have been vocal in the past about the practice of "developers" putting out "mods" that are so uncreative and uninspired. Most mods only adds some items, blocks and badly textured mods that use the bipedal model (steve),
Now when we create new things for the DWCM, or any iKingsSGC product in general it goes through several stages of picking and choosing the best features out of generally hundreds of ideas for one feature or smart entity etc. Once the first model is produced for a specific smart entity we typically revise it anywhere from 5 to 25 times before we get it top quality. It thenhas to go through the texturing phase. I spend anywhere from an hour to 3 hours texturing a single model depending on the texture map after that I spend sometimes whole days developing a very specific feature set for that smart entity.

It is this type of creative thinking and our need to make things top quality that makes the DWCM so unique and its also why I think we are "streets ahead" of any competition we may every get.

For other people to develop a Doctor Who mod it would be like him jumping into a field where 99.9% of the market-share is already taken by a single competitor.

He/She/They would need to both compete with the DWCM in terms of features and in terms of popularity as well as the quality of their features. If He/She/They decided to develop their mod they would be essentially drowning from the very start.

The Doctor Who Client Mod currently holds the 2nd most diamonds for a mod on PMC and the 16th most viewed mod on Planet Minecraft not to mention it ranks In the top 10 on the Minecraft Forums on both most replied and most views. We already have over 600 features and counting. Not just items, blocks and mobs. We have legitimate new systems that really do revolutionize minecraft. We are building a game on top of minecraft which is the prototype for our other projects (Stargate Chevron 7.)

Keep in mind that all of this is is during our Pre-Alpha development phase. Imagine how much more popular it will become when once we start our closed alpha phases and even more so once our first public beta is released.

Due to my ankle injury and being unable to goto college for the forseeable future the DWCM and iKingsSGC & the iSGC Mod Division are basically full time jobs for me, of course I dont get paid for the work I do but I have nothing else to do but watch netflix and work on these projects. I think that in order for others to compete with the DWCM and me personally they would need to be constantly coding and constantly thinking of ideas and constantly texturing (and I am a graphic design student who will be getting a certificate in web design and Degree in Applied Science.)

I just dont think that in minecrafts current state of trying to kill the modding community that it would be wise for ANYONE to try and start or continue to develop another DW mod besides the iKingsSGC Mod Division. Minecraft being an unstable platform to develop on and because the DWCM pretty much satisfies every Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures fans and it brings much much more content than just Whoniverse stuff and it is the highest quality you have ever seen in minecraft in regards to art, code, and sounds.

Personally I think it would be extremely difficult for anyone to compete with us and I dont want to see someone work hard on a project and not see it succeed. For anyone to try and compete with myself and the rest of the iKingsSGC at this point would be trying to run to catch up to something that is in warp speed factor 10.

Of course they will and have in the past. Mojangs constant delay of the modding API has caused. 4 month delay in production on the DWCM.

However once the modding API is released we will be splitting off of minecrafts vesion system and developing the DWCM with our own ecosystem and version system

Unfortunatley the iKingsSGC Mod Division only works on projects we are deeply passionate about. Nothing about vanilla minecraft makes us passionate enough to modify vanilla items.

Doctor Who Client Mod is the prototype of sorts for our other project such as the Stargate Chevron 7 Client Mod. DWCM acts as a testing ground for our advanced systems that allow massive projects that could be described as games being built on top of the minecraft platform

We do not have any limits to how much we will add into the DWCM so at this time we cannot say how far into development we are.

However I can say that at the current moment in our Pre-Alpha development phase we have already completed 700+ features.
