[Linux] Shaders produce GL errors
No matter what shaders I use, none of them work. I always get some kind of GL errors.
Some information:
- Kubuntu 19.04
- AMD RX 480 (4 GB)
- Mesa 19.0.8 drivers
- Minecraft 1.14.\w Optifine 1.14.4 (from official site)
- Continuum 1.14.4 shaders
- Oracle JRE 1.8.0
- Official Minecraft launcher
Possible solutions:
- Use official AMD drivers
- Use different Java version
- Pray for god
Symptoms:
- A lot of GL error messages are shown in chat
- Visual glitches or black screen with only UI
- Crashes when using 1.14.3 Optifine (won't even start)
Installation progress:
- Downloading Optifine installer from *optifine.net*
- From the installer selecting "Install" and installing it to my minecraft folder (/home/mx007/.minecraft)
- Starting the vanilla launcher, selecting the new Optifine profile & launching the game
- Moving shaderpacks to ".minecraft/shaderpacks" folder
- Enabling the shaderpack (When required: setting the required settings for that shaderpack)
- Joining my singleplayer world
- GL errors & visual glitches appear
I don't want to change Minecraft version to anything other than 1.14.*. I tried 1.14.4 and 1.14.3 myself, neither of them worked.

Probably because you have only 4 gigabytes of ram, Minecraft can barely run on that, let alone with shaders. Also, get an official Operating System, Linux is very buggy as it is an open source browser and is unstable on some builds.

Where did you read that? I have 16 and 8 of it is allocated to Minecraft. Sorry for late reply, couldn't access my account nor my email account

Sorry, read the specs wrong and thought that the
AMD RX 480 (4 GB) was your RAM. Anyways, another problem could be your driver like you said. I once used my shader on intel graphics though, so I would suggest sildurs enhanced default. Try one of the basic shaders first, and if it works then try one of the more advanced ones on sildurs-shaders.github.io/

Posted log contains no GL errors.
Then this is not a Minecraft problem and there is nothing we can do on Planet Minecraft.
Consider posting on linuxforums.org. Maybe the users there wil recognize the problem you are having.
Also I will add that other games (but only a few) also have problems with graphics/shaders.

Why you trying to use optifine 1.14.4 on minecraft 1.14, use the 1.14 version instead

That's a typo. Oops.
Also I will add that other games (but only a few) also have problems with graphics/shaders. The problem could be in the drivers but I'm using the Mesa drivers as they offer great performance and are widely supported. The official drivers are not released yet but there are some sketchy workarounds I could try to make them work. I will give them a try whenever I have time.
