What I do to install mods is unzip the file the mod is in and then copy all the .class files and paste them into my minecraft.jar
It's a little easier for me as I have a mac, but if you're on windows you can use an app like 7zip to do it.

the only reason why it didn't work is because you didn't bother putting in a texture pack. :p
and there are videos on installing mods, you dimwit. GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND.

no mod loader is for mods, mcpatcher is for texture packs.
