Me and a friend were playing on a LAN world with mods. Then we started getting this error
Internal:execption: io.netty.handler.codeec.DecorderException;java.IOEException:Packet was larger than I expected, found 5 bytes extra while reading packet 4
Whenever he gets on my LAN or I get on his this error comes up after 1-2 minutes. There is no crash report either. We have about 80 mods, we tried removing half of them but the error still showed up. We are using forge 10.13.4.1614. We also have optifine 1.7.10_HD_U_D1. If you need any more info I am happy to give it.
Thx

how do I move to a server?

1. this isn't a ram problem. This is totally unrelated to ram.
2. This may be a mod problem. Some mod could be writing to much to the packets. Try moving from a lan world to a server.

What do you mean you have 6gb RAM and your friend has 4gb RAM set to the server?

I have 6gb of ram and my friend has 4gb of ram set to run Minecraft 1.7.10 Forge.
I have 16gb total on my computer and my friend had 8gb total

Could be a lack of ram as Josephpica said, Cause 80 mods fairly large amount of stuff to run especially when running on Lan

Most likely not enough RAM. Is your friend hosting on the same computer they are playing on? Also 80 mods is a lot there could be a conflict or one/some might need updating.

Maybe you need more RAM. Honestly not sure. Since he is doing a LAN world, hjs computer may be having problems handling the server. May also be a mod problem, but I doubt it.
