My RPG custom map information - Opinions please?
I will be posting a project soon, but I'm mainly waiting for Sphax to release a new texture pack for 1.13. I have some information about the gameplay and I'm just wanting some feedback, so:
1)The Game: It will be an open world with quests and bounty boards in lots of places, however some areas will be locked until certain story quests are complete, and other areas will have stronger enemies that you will need better gear for to overcome them.
2) Currency: The currency system will be Coins. You do start with some, but you can earn Coins through completing quests, finding special items in the world to sell or by killing bosses and looting dungeons. These Coins can be used to buy new weapons and armor, use healing stations (more on that below) and to buy all kinds of items.
3) Health: Health will not naturally regenerate. This may not be a good idea for a lot of players but the idea is, you can find gear with modifiers that increase your maximum health, give you more defence and give you enhanced healing effects. This is to simulate a real RPG however please give me your honest feedback on this idea! Healing stations will be fairly cheap, and will fill your current health to maximum. This game will teach you to be cautious with battles and potion usage.
4) Gear Rarity: Gear will come in varieties, but they will follow a rarity scale:
White - Common
Green - Uncommon
Blue - Rare
Purple - Very Rare
Aqua - Legendary
Red - Set Item
Gear strength will work hand in hand with this rarity scale.
5) Bosses and Dungeons: This map will feature many explorable dungeons with unique buildings to house them in, along with either traps, puzzles, bosses or a mixture of all three. Bosses will be harder and stronger versions of some enemies, with others having customised looks. They will have their own loot pool, their own specialised gear and their very own spawn area. Some bosses will be story quest bosses, some will be dungeon bosses and other's will be bounties that you can complete for rewards. The best part? they will all be respawnable so you can fight them as many times as you want, for a shot at their rarest loot!
I think that's all of the basics of my map. Please feel free to ask any questions, i will answer to all of you! I'll be hard at work on this map everyday, and I'll keep the PMC updated on any changes!

No offense, but this looks mostly quite generic. It's pretty much what most RPG games have in one way or another, and while minecraft maps vary in how well they implement it, it feels like it might not stand out that much

None taken, yeah i understand what you’re saying. Because its my first time making a full blown map like this, i dont want to try to be too ambitious. I’m gonna do my best with this map and get as much feedback as possible and then I’ll think about making something completely different. Thank you for your reply

Sounds already very complete, but are those healing stations bound to one place or can you carry them around?

the key concepts are there, its just the buildings and areas i need to do! And the idea is that healing stations will be in individual places, like in towns and safe areas, then you carry instant health potions, regeneration etc, with different potions being more valuable
