Hello. I am somewhat new to Planet Minecraft and have decided to participate in the solo-build contest "Penthouse, sweet", however I have a couple of questions.
One. Am I allowed to do map art? the rules said no building outside but does that include any map art?
Two. Am I allowed to remove sections of the cage?
Any help regarding these questions would be much appreciated.

well, that makes it obvious. Though I think there is an option to import images using armorstands, I have no idea how it works.

You can't build outside the quartz cage, period. At best, anything you build outside won't be judged as part of your build. At worst, you risk disqualification for not following the contest rules.

Not sure about the map art, but the quartz must not be edited. You can place windows in it, but not remove any quartz or move the doors.
On the Map art, if you're smart you teleport to x1000 z1000 and make your map art there. No judge is gonna bother looking that far out.
