I don't have a very good eye for builds, so I was wondering if I could get some feedback on this fireplace so far. Does it look a little... big for the room it's in? I'm still not finished with the walls yet by the way.

Believe me, thats not overkill. Overkill is a lot more than that.

Thanks for the feedback guys! It seems pretty much 50-50. I'm going to keep messing around for a little bit, and see what I can come up with.
Oh, and for those of you wondering, no, it has not burned anything down, and the fire's been blazing for a good half hour or so.

No its Fine it makes a good feature wall but I don't recommend putting too much else packing up that space (especially wool or wood)

in minecraft it might burn down the building, yes overkill

If that was real life, the building would burn down from too much heat coming off the fire. So yes it's overkill.
