Glitched Colored Text in Resource Pack 1.12.1
My first resource pack, Color Pack, edits the file en_us.lang to include colored text(via the '§' symbol) on some item and block name. This worked fine until I recently has to convert the .lang file into a .txt so that I could use WordPad to parse it(previously, I was using Notepad, but it made everything appear on one line). When I converted it back into a .lang file, now it shows up glitched in the game: instead of showing colored text it now interprets the text literally and attempts to print the '§' sign but just prints the 'missing character' symbol. I've attached an image displaying this. How can I fix it? I already tried re-extracting the .lang file and pasting in the previous text.

To answer this question for anybody else having the same problem, the "?" means that you have entered a character (Such as an emoji) that Minecraft doesn't recognize.

Yes, it was the section sign. The problem was that I saved it in the default encoding and not UTF-8.

If anyone wants to know, don't convert the file to different types. Use notepad++ to edit instead of notepad.
