Hi everyone,

I want to start a texture pack and I'm not quite sure how to do so I checked out a video on YouTube and it told me to open my minecraft.jar with archive utility (on Mac) but the thing is, I have no actual minecraft.jar but a file named like that which means that I can't open it with archive utility...

It looks like this:

I don't know if any of you have a solution or maybe know a better video? Anything that could help would be very appreciated..

BTW the file you were gonna open with archive utility was the file with all the .class files in it.

Don't use minecraft.jar. Go into the "versions" folder, find the JAR file for the latest version, and use that.

So if I'm using 1.7.4 that would be 1.7.4.jar , right?
Thanks for the help!

I believe as of 1.6.something block textures now have their own long files in the resource folder or something of the sort, I would try looking there instead.
