Today I just hopped on and created a world because why not-- and to my amazement I spawned in a plains biome with a nether portal, surrounded by forests, lakes and rivers, AND a bamboo forest all within viewing distance from spawn! I figure this would be an awesome survival seed, and it's quite a challenging one to load up in amplified mode-- if you dare...
