Im having issues with essentials download

i am having issues with the essentials plugin on the hosting network i am using. every time i download essentials chat, essentials core, essentials spawn and essentials protect my server wont let me execute and commands. is there any way to fix this issue

Chances are you have a wrong version, due to anything past 1.8 there is Essentials X and Essentials 2, regular bukkit essentials no longer works, and will cause this issue where you won't be able to do any commands, type /pl in game and see if they display red, if they do then this is most likely your issue.
