Skin Shading

Well, I'm interested in skinning, but I've mainly used shader templates to help with shading. But I've looked for numerous tutorials and all they show up is on how to shade with a template. If it's a template designed by myself, I'm fine with that, because it's my own work, but I'm asking all of the skin masterminds out there on how they shade their skins so brilliantly.

They take time and effort to see what looks good. Try using more than one program to edit your skin, Think creatively instead of "OO I need to get this skin done its going to be so cool" To make skins I use photoshop cc, Paint.net, and mcSKin3d
