Hey guys! Chron here, and I figured it's about time I hosted a real contest to celebrate my accomplishment of 210 subs (thanks everyone! luv y'all <3)!

The rules of this contest are pretty simple: Make an acrostic poem using your name/a word that means a lot to you. It could be your PMC username, your Minecraft IGN (you can exclude numbers/extra characters to make things easier), or any other word that means a lot to you (explain why it's important through the poem, of course).

Example
I'll be using my Minecraft IGN:

Caught up in a hurricane, life, flashing.
Hoped to take away the pain, strife, crashing.
Ripped apart from what once I knew,
Only to feel what once was true...
Nothing can change the broken mind.
After all, this is life, where anything,
Love, war, or the ultimate suffering, is
Going to be used
Against you, to prevent you from happiness.

(I know it's not great, but I was mainly focused on showing as many poetic styles as I could.)

Judges:
Just me at the moment, but I think that's all I'll need.

Prizes:

1st Place: An opportunity to do a collab blog with me (if you want), a fair amount of diamonds, and a subscription

2nd Place: An interview conducted by me (if you want), a fair amount of diamonds, and a subscription

3rd Place: A fair amount of diamonds and a subscription

(If you place in any of these ranks and have Pokemon X/Y/OR/AS, I also have some bred Pokemon I might give ya.)

Deadline: March 5th at 11:59:59 PM CST

Hope y'all enjoy, and I can't wait to see what y'all write! If you have any questions, feel free to let me know. (= Also, if anyone would be willing to make trophies, I'd appreciate it.

Oh, one more thing: Just post it in a spoiler in a forum post. No need to make a blog out of it, because they're most likely going to be kinda short.

wow, that was fast.
Congratulations, every single one of these were entirely deserved.
I'm especially proud of me2367, because in reality, all of us that placed top 3 are already well-known bloggers and well, it's not really that strange for us to get a placement in a poetry contest. However, for someone that writes a lot, but hasn't gotten on the map, he's shown me that blogging is not dead, that PMC still has a bright future.
/end speech
That all being said, I've decided to:
-host one of these little poetry challenges myself in the near future, so keep an eye out. Two words: steam prizes.
-continue writing myself. I was kind of bored of it, but hey. All I can say is bagels, yes, bagels.

Anyhow, do we get trophies n stuff, Chron? ._.

Alrighty kiddos, after way too much deliberation between me, myself, and I (and a little assistance from one of my non-PMC friends), I have come to a conclusion as to the rankings of these poems.

As a preface, I just wanted to say that popularity had absolutely nothing to do with my choices. My non-PMC friend agreed with all of my choices without knowing who anyone was. This is solely based on my personal favorite poems.

And now, the results... I gotta say, this was really close. A phenomenal job by all three of you.

First Place:
IAmSoLikeCalledTT with Tear Drop:
Tsunami tides crashing down your cheek;
Escaping the fortress that is your face
Anger, envy, sadness, melancholy:
Released so much with just one tear.

Darkness found in the lightest places,
Realisations of past demons,
Overt manipulative schemes come into fruition:
People are so cynical.

The figurative language and rhythm are phenomenal. The message, while simple, is incredibly profound. I usually don't like it when it doesn't rhyme, but somehow you still made it so clean and elegant. I really, really, love it. Beautiful job.

Second Place:
Zatharel with Tom and Jerry
To explain this nostalgic thought,
One must look into the sadness I've fought.
My innocent little cartoon turns into a pleasant memory, a memory of one.

A tragedy happened in the times of his illness,
Not even little Jerry knew, that on that day,
Death was coming to grab Tom, dragging him deep into the abyss.

Just sat there, that is what I did,
Even when mother came crying into the room.
Running from reality does not help,
Running from reality only leads to my own doom.
You will forever be in my heart, grandfather, forever my friend Tom.

Gosh, the emotion in this... It's so real. The descriptive wording is amazing, as well as the metaphor. I'm also a huge fan of the repetition used throughout, though I wish it could've been a tad more prevalent, as with the rhyming. Consistency and a bit of rhythm was all it lacked. I still really really like it. Great job. (=

Third Place:
TheChipsandip with Chipsandip
Creative to others but not himself.
Hopes of being different than everyone else.
Intelligent thoughts and dumb ideas.
Pressured to sacrifice just to help.
Scared by stories, drawn by gore.
Always in one room with a locked door.
Never bothering to think a bit less.
Dark sided? No. Dimwitted? Yes.
International fame he wants but hates.
Perseverant with speed, but still feels too late.

This may sound weird, but I really like the choppiness of it. The metaphors/descriptive language/rhythm is great, as is the rhyme scheme (which is, admittedly, a tad subtle). One thing I feel this needs is... I'm not sure, honestly. It's a phenomenal poem, and all 3 of them really are, but it's just missing that... cohesion. That thing that just unifies it and amplifies the central message.

Honorable Mentions:
Pikamoar with Ubuntu
Up the hill, venture into the trees
Buried beneath is a vault that is free
Upheaval of normal, plethora of amazing
Neath the soil, in a fountain that's blazing
To those who doubt, I tell you it's true
Under the soil, it's buried for you

While your rhythm was probably the best of them all, and your metaphor was great, I feel like it lacked a bit of length, honestly. A little bit more could've gone a long way.

me2367 with Hollask
How it had come to this the mage was unsure.
Only last week all the world seemed so pure.
Looking upon it now those times seem long gone.
Lately the world had succumbed to the one.
As his armies had marched, so the lands did fall.
So the mad king did rule them all.
Killed were those from the royal hall

You were one of the very few to tell a complete story through your poem, and a really great one at that, but it just kinda fell apart in the end rhythm-wise, in my opinion. It's still good, but, like Pikamoar, could use a bit more length, in addition to a bit of consistency.

I do want to add, however, that I was impressed with the sheer amount of poetic talent that the entrants of this contest possessed. This was definitely not an easy judging for me. Thanks for participating, everyone! I hope to see more poetry out of many of y'all in the future!

As for the winners, your prizes will be delivered shortly, but no guarantees as to when.

To shed some light on that, poetry has taken a come back during the turn of the century. There was a great decline in the art of writing the mastery of our language. It was only with in the past 20 years people have started to acknowledge the beauty behind our language that we speak everyday. I hope more people take part in the things we take for granted.

Much of a caring person, so kind and giving.
One to go to in a time of sorrow or fails,
This person will always listen to your stories and tales.
Having a touch gentle and sweet,
Even one who always heeds,
Right by your side in your time in need.

I chose this word because of my own mother, who always cares and is always there.

Then the style you are thinking about is called a Name poem not a acrostic, but I made several poems so here is my back up... I guess you could call it. Although I liked the first one better. This poem ends in a couplet, and can also be viewed as a Elegy.

oooh this is my personal favorite so far, I assume an Elegy is the same thing as "елегија" where I come from which is basically a sad poem dedicated to a lost person, lost youth, sorrow for your country etc etc?

Anddd time's up. Hopefully judging will be wrapped up soon, considering Chron is the only judge.

An Acrostic Doesn't have to be the first letter in a sentence, Most notably it can be rhythmic in the verse and can have a slight puzzle towards it. That is up to the Poets preference really. If you have a question on the formatting let me know.

This Poem is dedicated towards my grandFather. Though he has passed now; his heart will ever live on.

Gallant man with passion of life
Bold radiance revolves around you
You extend arms to loving sons
But the tyrant never sees level ground
Absence of unseen presence drowns the body
For you are one with caring love
No after shadow ever looms
When unrequited tears dry
Swaying so many hearts with subtle smile
Words not said don't end in silence
Feelings shine bright with past relations light

Love is time

For this contest, I would really like it if all the letters began each of the lines. I know that most acrostics don't require that, but for simplicity's sake, I do. While this is quite a beautiful poem, in order to be eligible, it needs to be rewritten.

This doesn't really follow the normal thought process, so I'll elucidate a little. The ideology behind it is that Ubuntu is a lesser known system, but it still is a very viable method of utilizing your computer.

So most of it is an allegory.
