Adding More Texture Resolutions

This is just a suggestion because the patcher allows any resolution as long as it's square. For example, I'm working on a x512 resolution pack right now and I wouldn't know where to put it once it's finished, lol.

Would it be possible to simple add an "other" category to the resolutions? Maybe even an "abnormal/special".

all i got to say is LOOK AT THISSSSSSS, we have been using HD skins for a bit now, and we hope to be the first server out there to make it main stream. more resolutions you say?? OK!!!!

If you're saying you want to be able to have a held torch be able to emit a dynamic light source, join the club! Unfortunately, that's not something that can be achieved in a texture pack... perhaps someone has (or will) write a mod for it?

And Btw For torches you should make the background of it light up like When you wield it.. Pretty confusing lol

You're a great Texture pack creater just that alot of people told me its too real.. And Messes up there game

But it's fun to play on LB Photorealism and look at the weird block headed animals
And it also helps to boost your project due to the nice looking scenery.

I think the higher the resolution, the more it takes away from the game.

:Look at it this way, you are literally playing in a world of blocks with a block texture pack. The more detailed you get with the texture pack, the more those blocks stay the same.. It's like moving 1 block forward and 512 blocks back.

x512 shouldn't be to hard to add as another option..... granted you are likely to be the only one to have a 512 resolution texture pack out to begin with. But imagine, I say make a x16 resolution, if only to see how it would turn out. I suspect you could make a pretty good photo realism texture pack for x16 resolution.

I may do something small scale after finishing up the x512. I'm really discouraged from doing it because the low resolutions have been done so many times it's difficult to stand out in that crowd.

I do have a very rough downsample of the x256. It needs a bunch of work, but I put it out on the forum as something for people to try.

I respect your opinion, but even though it is blocky it doesn't give it the excuse to not look real or be in a higher resolution. Take a look at this screenshot of the x512 pack I'm working on.

It's absolutely stunning how well that sand flows into the next block. With the new lighting of 1.8, realistic packs will just be phenomenal, in my opinion. The potential is there, just few are so thorough to make it "right"

Understandable. I can't even run the x512 properly without additional mods. =S

BoomerI only have 1 GB on my laptop.... if only because I don't try to keep my laptop up to date with the ever updating technology of computers. That being said, 512 resolution? Oh lordy lordy, Cyprezz is going to have to make more class names eventually once the level hits 100 or more.


I think Cyprezz had said that it takes insane amounts of exp to get to like 85, let alone 100. It's taking almost a week to level up to 79 so I think he's safe for another year, lol

Back on topic, would this be simple to implement into the site? Just a x512 or maybe an "other"?

Surprisingly it's not much more memory than the x256. As long as you have 4GB of RAM it's possible.

Lol, I can't even render the terrain.png with a 1024x1024 resolution pack. (Just tried)

I guess we'll run into that issue when I get this texture pack closer to a release day. I haven't talked to Cyprezz in a while... I wonder what he's been up to lately.
