Apparently if you go to Minecon (I wont be attending) you get a cape that EVERYONE can see. Are you gonna be able to get capes without going to Minecon too? I really want one but I don't want to have to install a mod that means only I can see

Untrue, Notch stated that in the near future everybody could have capes, you would be able to make them, kind of like skins. So you cam have like a clan and your cape is the logo or something.

no, only players/people that bought a ticket for minecon will get a Cape/cloak. I purchased my ticket and i already has the cape. November 2, 2011

I've heard that alpha players will get an alpha cape but i don't know if thats true. But you can also install spout and the configure a cape to you that other ppl also using spout can see, only works on a server using spout though.
