Hello, me again.

I recently pre ordered Fallout 4, and I'd like to be ready for it. As it's a PC game and don't have the best laptop (It only has a 1.8 ghz processor) I need some assistance. I'm looking to replace the CPU of my laptop with a better one, preferably one that can run fallout 4. As I don't care about the graphics, I just want it to be able to run smoothly on low graphics. I also am looking to get a new mouse, but don't want to spend too much money on that. In total my budget for the Processor is $70, but if it is possible to buy it off Walmart (I have a $50 dollar gift card on there) then it will go up and end up at around $120 dollars. I don't really have a budget for the mouse but I don't want to spend more than $30. Also, if you have any suggestions for any other modifications I should make to my laptop, please help me out.

My current processor is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-32171 CPU @ 1.80 GHz 1.80GHz
My RAM: 4.00 GB (3.89 usable)
And my system type is a 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor.
I am running on windows ten as well.

Please help me figure this stuff, as I don't really understand this type of stuff.

How about this one? It's the same model, just not so shady. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Intel-Core-i5-2540M-SR044-CPU-Mobile-Processor-PGA-988-Socket-G2-3-3G-/252093767967?hash=item3ab1f5a11f
Also, I don't think ASUS does that with CPU's but I'll go ahead and check.

I can run skyrim, but it's laggy. Also, I followed all of you guys' advice, but couldn't find any in my price range. Found this one, but it was expensive http://www.sears.com/intel-cpu-i5-2540m-3.30ghz-pga988-3m-tray/p-SPM7340019403?sid=IDx20140425xECNMPCOM09&sdc_id=1442671616z484149z37073b0a311zzz and then found it cheaper on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-i5-2540M-SR044-CPU-Mobile-Processor-PGA-988-Socket-G2-3-3G-/141616863917?hash=item20f905daad

Does this look good (and better than mine) to you?

If you can run Fallout 3 on there i am sure you can run Fallout 4 on it too but not as smoothly, as long as you use the lowest graphics, its the same engine after all

Try running Skyrim on it, if you cant run Skyrim then you wont be able to play fallout 4 on it, still same engine and skyrims the closest to it your going to get right now

I dont think you can upgrade a laptop. Maybe buy yourself a desktop?

As for the specs required, if you can run a game like Skyrim with an ENB and some texture mods, you can run Fallout 4. So a decent i7, 8GB RAM and maybe a GTX 960?

I suggest building a desktop, instead of buying a laptop as well, since it would be cheaper and more customizable..

I looked and found this one, but I don't know what all of this means. Do you think this one would be good?

it looks unbelievably fake... never trust anything from ebay... especially if its an electronic from china and says "100% OK " as the first two things

and also the cpu might be integrated to the laptop, so before you go upgrading it.. make sure you can actually replace it, there are a bunch of times that i almost got a new cpu for one of my laptops but the cpu was welded to the board

The reason my budget is low, is because I rarely get my hands on money. I'm only 14, so I can't really get a job... if I don't find a processor though, I might just put my money in the bank and save it up for this.

you can get a good amd processor if your building a desktop for like 100$
graphics cards Nividia GTX 960 will run it good and RAM go at least 8GB (any brand is fine as long as its compatible) i recommend https://pcpartpicker.com/ if your building a desktop to see if its compatible btw Nividia GTX 960 will run it at medium - high if you want that kind of performance a cheaper option is the Nvidia GTX 660 and thats a lot cheaper but launched it 2012 so it might run it at ultra settings it depends on fallout 4's graphics

Thank you for the quick response, but I'm not building a desktop, I'm trying to just upgrade my current laptop. Fallout 4 will run with max graphics at 1080p, but as I said, I don't really care about graphics. I just want it to run smoothly at low graphics. The only reason I don't care for desktops, is I love the portability of laptops. If I go someplace and I get bored, I can just start playing games, or if I'm on a road trip, I can play games.

I'm pretty good at modifying things that aren't supposed to be modified. For instance, I'm currently modifying my old DS lite which broke in half, into a Gameboy advance sp. Also I've taken one of the speakers from that and put it into my old DMG Gameboy. I don't think replacing a CPU would be very hard.
