FPS while recording
A quick question
I have a Samsung lappy with an i7-3610qm quad core @3.3ghz 8gb ram an nvidia 650m graphic card and I get 120fps in Minecraft with optifine and a render distance 6-9
If I start recording my fps drops to like 20-40 like lol I don't think this should happen any help please? I have tried obs fraps dxtory all have failed to give me 40+ fps

OBS can be almost lag-less with the right settings. Find some tutorials (make sure you are using OBS Studio). It works well for me.

Those settings use the codec that Nvidia use for ShadowPlay so if OP's GPU isn't supported by ShadowPlay then it most likely can't use that codec

The gc isnt important in minecraft (just for shaders).
First u could try to overclock the CPU ur max speed is 3.3Gh in High speed
Also another recording program: I used OBS for a long time and my recordings were 30fps recordings. (i have the i5 6600k gtx 970 and 2 250 ssd´s so that shouldnt happen)
I would recommend LOILO for recording: http://loilo.tv/de/product/game_recorder
Also u could delete old apps u dont need so that ur disk is not overload.
i hope i could help

Any other recommendations?

Ah, it hadn't occurred to me how old your GPU was, sorry about that.
As for improving the frame rate, a faster storage device MIGHT improve it as bandwidth shouldn't be a problem but honestly, your CPU isn't particularly powerful and even high end desktop processors take a huge hit when trying to record and play games at the same time.

Recording to the same drive that your game is reading from is intense on the drive so it has to throttle to be able to keep up. Also recording is extremely intensive on your processor. 20-40 is expected.
Try using Nvidia's ShadowPlay instead of the programs you've been using, ShadowPlay uses your GPU rather than your CPU. You'll see about a 5-15% drop in frame rate rather than the huge drop you're seeing now.
