The first canon shoots a pearl to another cannon, which catches it. Cannon 2 > 3, 3 > 4, then at the end, 4 goes back to 1. Then it repeats.

You have to launch it with TNT. Generally. it works similarly to a TNT cannon, but with an ender pearl instead. Very basic designs have two tnt dispensers in the back that dispense into water, and at the end there is a soul sand. There is a water tube right above the soul sand. To load it, you throw the pearl through the water tube so it slows down (cobwebs might work, haven't tried that). Once it falls back down, the soul sand water forces it upwards. Once it's loaded, you launch it.
